To enhance the professional capability of frontline teachers, the Second Staff Development Day focused on ways to strengthen teachers’ skills and confidence in teaching and supporting students.
During the morning session, Mr HON Hau-sut, Ms CHAN Chor-yuet and Ms SUNG Hoi-yan from the QSIP Team conducted the thematic talk on “Self-regulated learning and class management”. Firstly, Mr HON had an evaluation on “TWGSS Stock-taking Exercise”. The analysis of factors influencing learning effectiveness, the relationship between teachers and students and students’ learning style were explained in details. Moreover, various strategies to promote students’ self-regulated learning habits and teacher-student relationships were introduced. Ms CHAN Wai-yin, Mr CHENG Mang-kit, Mr KONG Yik-hang (Liberal Studies) and Mr LUI Shiu-cheong, Abraham (Biology) were also invited to share their good practices on enhancing students’ learning motivation.
In the afternoon session, Ms LI Wing-yan, Michelle, the Educational Psychologist, held a workshop on “How to identify and support students with behavioral and emotional problems”. She shared her extensive experience in dealing with students with learning difficulties and other disorders. She explained the proper ways to treat and support these students. Teachers were attentive and participated in the group discussions eagerly.
