The Semi-Finals of the 5th Inter-Government Secondary Schools English Debating Competition were successfully held on 17 May 2014.
The competitions of Stream A were held in Homantin Government Secondary School, with Miss Ka-yee HO (Homantin Government Secondary School), Mr. Gobbel LAW (Helen Liang Memorial Secondary School (Shatin)) and Ms. Man-yu KO (Chiu Lut Sau Memorial Secondary School) as the adjudicators. The motion of Contest 1 was The Best Way to Reduce Hong Kong’s Waste Is to Introduce a Garbage Tax, with the team from our school taking the affirmative side and that from Queen Elizabeth School the opposition. The motion of Contest 2 was The Rich Should Pay Higher Tax to Help the Poor, with the team from Yuen Long Public Secondary School taking the affirmative side and that from King’s College the opposition. In this stream, the teams from Queen Elizabeth School and King’s College were the winners and would proceed to the Grand-Final.
The competitions of Stream B were held in Tsuen Wan Government Secondary School, with Mr. Chun-shing LAI (Tsuen Wan Government Secondary School), Ms. See-wan CHEUNG (South Tuen Mun Government Secondary School) and Miss Bonnie NG (King’s College)as the adjudicators.
