Our students joined a number of Mathematics Competitions this year, including the International Mathematical Olympiad Preliminary Selection Contest, the Pui Ching Mathematics Competition, the Hong Kong Mathematics Olympiad and the Hong Kong Youth Mathematical High Achievers Selection Contest. The competitions were aimed at cultivating students’ interests on mathematics and enhancing their logical thinking, analytical and problem solving skills.
With tremendous effort from our teachers, our students received excellent results in many competitions. In the International Mathematical Olympiad Preliminary Selection, 5C LAM Shek-fung and 2A HSIEH Chong-ho won the Silver Awards and 4B YU Chun-kwan won the Honorable Mention Award. In the Pui Ching Mathematics Competition, there were eight students who entered the Final Round. 2A HSIEH Chong-ho won the championship.
In the Hong Kong Mathematics Olympiad, 5C LAM Shek-fung won the 1st Class Honor, 2A HSIEH Chong-ho won the 2nd Class Honor and 4B YU Wai-yip won the 3rd Class Honor in the individual event. The team formed by six students won the Gold Award in group events and obtained a merit in the final.
In the Hong Kong Youth Mathematical High Achievers Selection Contest, 3B LAM Cheuk-fung, 3C TSO Chung Man and 3D WONG Ho-fung won 2nd Class Honor. 3A TSANG Cheuk-nam and 3B WONG Yung-tak won 3rd Class Honor.
