On 22nd and 29th November, 2021, S5 Biology students conducted a half-day field study at the Ho Koon Nature Education cum Astronomical Centre. They had the opportunity to study the micro-habitat of cow dung and litter of fallen leaves. All students were fascinated by the highly diversified small animals living in the cow dung. During the study, they found organisms such as dung beetles, ants, spiders, cockroaches, millipedes, woodlouse, termites, earwigs etc. and had the chance to study them closely with the microscope, learning more about how they adapt to the special living environment. This eye-opening experience allowed our students to understand the roles of various organisms in our ecosystems and thus have more respect to the biodiversity on earth.
