English Week 2022-2023 comprised four major activities, including TWGSS’ Got Talent 2023, Game Booths, Song Dedication and Mini-concerts.
On 27 February, 8 English Game Booths themed ‘World Cultures’ were set up by the service provider and run by eight NET teachers. Led by their English teachers, each S1-3 English group/class visited the booths for one period. The booths were open to other students at the second recess, lunch and after school.
TWGSS’ Got Talent for each level was held every day throughout the English Week. Each class put on a drama performance on the theme of Perseverance, Empathy and Responsibility. 4 prizes, namely, Best Overall Performance, Best Actor, Best Script and Best Teamwork, were awarded to different classes to acknowledge their great efforts and outstanding performances.
Song Dedication was conducted at lunch on 28-29 Feb. 2 students from English Society helped out as the DJs, reading out encouraging messages from students and teachers and choosing the right English song to go with the message, which was broadcast to the whole school via the PA system.
Two Mini-concerts were held on 2 and 3 March in the school hall. Students performed both pop songs and/or folk songs solo, in pairs, in teams and with their teachers. The Principal and English Teachers performed ‘Amazing Grace’ on the first day of the Mini-concert. Many schoolmates and teachers came to show support and it was a full house on both days.
On the whole, the English Week was a resounding success as it offered a platform for TWGSS students to organise and participate in a variety of creative English activities.
