The PTA Picnic for Yim Tin Tsai was held on 23 April 2023, with a total of 174 parents, students, and teaching staff enrolled in the event.
In the morning, all participants visited the Volcano Discovery Centre in Sai Kung, which showcases the formation of Hong Kong’s unique hexagonal rock columns and provides basic information about volcano structure and volcanic eruptions. Through ferry trips, the tour visited Yim Tin Tsai, an island in Inner Port Shelter close to Sharp Island. In the middle of the idyllic island is a historical Hakka village. Historical sites such as the Yim Tin Tsai Heritage Exhibition Centre and St. Joseph’s Chapel were visited. Salt production was Yim Tin Tsai’s main industry in the past. After a delicious lunch featuring seafood cuisine, the tour visited Sharp Island, a place of great natural beauty and diverse geoheritage. Tour members were able to take photos of rock formations such as the “Pineapple Bun Rock” and experience crossing the Tombolo, which can only be crossed when the tide is below a certain level.
The PTA picnic ended with lots of joy and fun for all participants.
