A New Zealand writer Kate de Goldi was invited through Hong Kong International Literary Festival to our school to conduct an English writing workshop for Class 3A on 16 March 2018.
Ms de Goldi taught the class the creative use of metaphor using a poem by Wallace Stevens and asked students to construct metaphors revolving around an object to compose a poem of their own. At the end of the workshop, Ms de Goldi read aloud excerpts from a literary magazine she edited and shared with students her insights on creative writing and literary appreciation.
The topic of the workshop was closely related to the S3 Reading Programme in the second term and greatly aroused students’ interest in literature and creative writing.
