The Joint-school English Debating Competition was held on 7 May 2024, against the English Debating Team from St. Paul’s College on the motion “This House would replace human judgment with computer algorithms in criminal sentencing decisions”.
Three S.3 students (CHOW Anna Kate of Class 3A, HUI Sai-to of Class 3A and WONG Tsz-ching of Class 3B) represented our school to participate in this Friendly Debating Competition. Having undergone the intense debates and interrogations between the two teams of similarly profound competitiveness, our English Debating Team won the competition. Awards were presented to the winning team and the best debater.
Students from the Debating Teams of both schools were incredibly inspired by the outstanding performances and the comments from the adjudicators. We once again congratulate the winners on their distinctive accomplishment and express our gratitude to them for bringing prestige to the school. It is hoped that more collaboration of this sort could be arranged in the future with a view to maximising students’ exposure to the English Debating world and honing their skills in this aspect.
