Five S3 students joined the Inter-school Debate Tournament held by Wah Yan College, Kowloon. Though all of the students were novice debaters, they collaborated well as a team throughout the three rounds of debate from 10 am to 2 pm. Their determination and effort in making persuasive arguments as they competed with other school teams were impressive.
The first motion was ‘This house believes that social networking sites do more harm than good’, the second was ‘This house would set a quota for mainland tourists visiting Hong Kong’ and the third was ‘This house believes that homeschooling should be allowed in Hong Kong.’
We had heated debates with the teams from Diocesan Girls’ School, St. Paul’s College and Heep Yunn School.
Finally two schools teams (Wah Yan College, Hong Kong and Wah Yan College, Kowloon) made it to the last round. The motion was — This house believes that Edward Snowden’s acts are justified. Wah Yan College, Hong Kong, was the winner.
