      Tsuen Wan Government Secondary School’s 55th Annual Sports Day was successfully held on March 15th and 16th, 2023 at Kwun Chung Sports Ground. This was the first Sports Day held during the pandemic, and after a three-year hiatus, it was a great success.

      The opening ceremony was led by our school core members from the Sports Association, Red Cross, Scouts and houses’ athletic representatives. The athlete’s pledge presented by 5D FAN Ho-yee, 5D NG Hoi-kei, 4A LAM Ting-hei, 4B KWOK Pui-ying and 2C LAU Ka-chun.

      The students demonstrated excellent athletic skills and teamwork abilities during the event. They actively participated in all the competitions and secured honors for their houses and clubs.      

      The overall champion is Pine House and the best cheering team went to Camphor House as reward of their great effort in supporting and cheering for their fellow students. Individual champions were awarded to the following students for their excellent performance:

 

Boys’ A Grade: 6C Deng Pui-lok, 6C LIU Chun-ho, 6D WONG Yiu-man;

Boys’ B Grade: 4B NG Chit-Lik, 4C MAK Wai-chun;

Boys’ C Grade: 2C LAU Ka-chun;

Girls’ A Grade: 5A CHAN Queenie;

Girls’ B Grade: 4B KWOK Pui-ying;

Girls’ C Grade: 2A KU Hoi-lam

 

      Numerous parents volunteered as judges, timekeepers, and field assistants during the event, making it possible for the event to run smoothly. We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude and respect to these parent volunteers.

      Despite the fierce competition, the students maintained good sportsmanship and showed excellent athletic spirit during the track events, jumping events, and throwing events. After the competition, renowned athlete Mr. Wong Kam Po shared his experience and insights on athletics. He emphasized the importance of having the right mindset and facing victory and defeat with firm belief and perseverance when facing challenges.

      Furthermore, Mr. Wong Kam Po also mentioned the importance of respect. In the competition, we need to respect our opponents, judges, and our own team, and respect every aspect of the competition. This spirit of respect is not only applicable to the sports field but is also a life lesson.

      In conclusion, the Tsuen Wan Government Secondary School Sports Day ended successfully, and the students gained rich athletic experience and the joy of victory. This will motivate them to work harder and continue to pursue their dreams in the future. We look forward to the next track and field event to witness the growth and progress of our students.
