Astronomy Camp

The first stargazing event of this academic year—the Geminid Meteor Shower Camp—was successfully held on 13-14 December 2024 at Lady MacLehose Holiday Village in Pak Tam, Sai Kung. Under the guidance of professional instructors from @Hobby HK, students had the opportunity to observe various celestial bodies. The camp began with a Kahoot warm-up activity, where students reviewed fundamental astronomy concepts. The stargazing instructor then provided an in-depth explanation of different techniques and principles, including meteor shower formation and methods for observing celestial objects.

Participants used two telescopes to observe the Moon, the Pleiades star cluster, the Orion Nebula, and Jupiter. Many students also enjoyed watching the Geminid meteor shower through binoculars. On the second day, they engaged in activities focused on solar observation and participated in various camp events.

Overall, the camp was a great success, creating joyful memories for the students and enhancing their understanding of astronomy and celestial observations. Special thanks to the committee members for their invaluable support in making this event possible.
