AI Learning Circle event combined teaching and competition elements. Teachers gathered to learn and discuss teaching and learning AI in school. Through these collaborative meetings, they shared teaching methods and materials to best support students in acquiring the necessary skills and understanding about AI.
On 18 April, 2024, Mr. Ho Chi-man conducted an open lesson for S3 students on the topic "Using Microsoft Copilot to Create an AI Chatbot". This lesson was open to teachers from all government schools, providing them with a valuable sharing opportunity.
In addition, the event also included two student competitions. For the "Student Hackathon", our students showcased an amazing performance, ranking 1st among the 18 participating schools as they completed the two required tasks by using App Inventor.
The "AI Innovation Contest" challenged students to design their own AI-powered projects. Our students came up with an innovative idea to use Generative AI tools to create images that incorporate Chinese poems to promote Chinese culture in project “古詩估詩”. They developed a Python program to create a quiz platform, allowing players to guess the poems based on the AI-generated images. This spectacular concept earned our students the Gold Medal in the competition.
The AI Learning Circle event has not only enhanced our teachers' knowledge and teaching practices but also inspired our students to explore the exciting possibilities of AI technology.
