The Suzhou-Jiaxing-Hangzhou Exchange Programme was organized for 40 S3-5 students from 31 March to 4 April 2024. Our Principal Ms Tang, Assistant Principal Ms Tung, three teachers and 40 students visited our sister schools, Zhangjiagang Chongzhen Middle School（張家港市崇真中學）and Jiaxing Number One Middle School（嘉興市第一中學）. The exchange programme provided a chance for students to experience the learning environment in two sister schools and learn the history, culture and the latest development of mainland China. After observing an S4 English lesson and S4 Physics lesson, students attended lessons with their buddies while teachers had professional dialogue sharing their teaching experiences. Off-campus activities were also arranged by our sister schools for us to further explore their local life and culture. These included home visits to local families and visits to 社會實踐基地. Outdoor cooking allowed students to experience Jiangnan picnic culture and build a relationship of cooperation and mutual trust. The farewell party also strengthened the friendship among the students and teachers between TWGSS and our sister schools. Despite a brief 3-day visit to our sister schools, the friendship and culture between students of the two schools were firmly established. Highlights included exchange programmes with two sister schools on 1-3 April and a tour to the Xitang Ancient Town and West Lake in Hangzhou. Xitang, as the inheritance site of traditional culture, has thousands of years of rich accumulation of folk grassroots culture, letting us experience the style of the canal town by taking a boat and crossing the bridge. On the last day of the trip, 4 April, we also took a boat trip to explore the beautiful scenery of West Lake in Hangzhou. The ten scenic spots (e.g. 斷橋殘雪、蘇堤、曲院風荷、花港觀魚) of West Lake are recognized as ideal classic landscapes, embodying the integration of man and nature. All in all, the students benefited a lot from their five-day trip to Suzhou and Hangzhou. Teachers from both places promoted their professional development through joint teaching observations and experience sharing. The sister school program can effectively promote the development of schools in both places, improve teachers’ professional standards and broaden students’ horizons. At the same time, students can appreciate the achievements of their own country and nation through their understanding of China's social and cultural development, historical figures and events, cultivating students' excellent moral character, and sense of identity with society, the country and nation, as well as a sense of belonging and responsibility.
